Perry Postgraduate Scholarships
Conditions of Awards
- Applications are invited from holders of 1st class or 2:1 honours degrees, in appropriate subjects, for Postgraduate scholarships to support research projects in agriculture and related fields, including veterinary projects.
- Normally the Institution will be paid £12K pa towards the stipend for the successful applicant.
- Scholarships must be undertaken at Universities, Colleges and Research Institutes in the United Kingdom.
- The Scholarships are normally for a maximum period of 3 years and should lead to the award of a Doctorate. The Foundation does not offer support for taught courses leading to a MSc, or other qualifications.
- All applications submitted must be supported by the University, College or Research Institute in the United Kingdom, where the scholarship will be undertaken.
- Scholarship projects must be of definable benefit to UK agriculture. Endorsement of the project by the appropiate commodity levy board is desirable.
- Short listed applicants will be required to attend an interview.
- The annual portion of an agreed award will be paid to the University, College or Research Institute at the beginning of the academic year of the duration of the award, against an invoice.
- The superviser of the student will be required to submit an annual progress report on the student with a final full report on the results of the project. A 500 word summary must also be submitted to the Foundation for posting on the web site.
- The Foundation may cancel an award if the student stops working on the project before the agreed termination date, or if the progress is not satisfactory. Immediate notice must be given to the Foundation of any suspension of the project for any reason.
- Postgraduate students must bring to the attention of the Foundation any project research results which appear to be capable of commercial exploitation.
- A copy of any material published on the scholarship project should be sent to the Foundation. Reference to the Foundation's financial contribution should be made in any such material.
- At the completion of the scholarship, a copy of the thesis must be sent to the Foundation.
